Abstract

1460919 Centrifugal pumps A BANYAI 13 March 1974 [5 July 1973] 11116/74 Heading F1C A centrifugal pump comprises a housing 12 containing at least one rotary impeller tube 70 coiled around the axis of rotation with a slope relative to a radial plane normal to the shaft which progressively decreases, e.g. from 40 degrees at the inlet 78 to 0 to 20 degrees at the outlet 80. Moreover, the cross-sectional area of the tube decreases, preferably uniformly, and its radial distance from the rotation axis increases in the direction of flow. Fluid discharged from outlet 80 passes into annular outlet chamber 82 in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation. Walls 36 provide additional support for the tube and, contrary to the construction shown, may be formed separately from the tube and bolted thereo. Dimensions of the pump are given in the Specification.
