Abstract
1460001 Two-part couplings MK ELECTRIC Ltd 29 Oct 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 50777/72 Heading H2E In a socket connector intended for a plug with two live pins a shutter 43 is mounted in a recess 36 in a cover 35 and slidable against spring 50 parallel to the line joining the pin-openings 37, 38, screening these openings until the pins are inserted simultaneously; either pin alone causes the shutter to pivot about a projection 40 from the cover and to lock to prevent sliding. The spring 50 is restrained by projection 41 in the cover, lying inside aperture 45 in the shutter which also allows passage of the pin through opening 38 when the shutter slides under the pressure of the pins on the 45 degree sloping surfaces 49. On attempted entry of a single pin the shutter tips with stop 57 rocking against projection 40 along line 58 until one or other of the surfaces 54, 55 presses against the restraining plate 52, allowing either projection 47 or 48 to lock in its respective opening 37 or 38. Cover 35 and shutter 43 are preferably made of plastics. An earth pin entry may be provided out of line with the shutter.
