Abstract

1460080 Dental device R N ELY 29 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973] 03987/74 Heading A5R A dental device 20 for cleaning the interproximal spaces between teeth and the fissure between gums and teeth comprises spaced arms 32 extending from a handle 22 and having slots 46 with notches 50, 52 therein, an elastomeric strip (54) with a stretchable ribbed intermediate portion 66 being releasably retained in the notches by means of enlarged triangular heads 72. As shown, (Fig. 3), notches 50, 52 have different lengths and thereby produce, in three different combinations, different tensions in the strip, the latter being mounted with its width w perpendicular to the length of the handle 22, and having a thickness between 0.0002 and 0.0008 inch when stretched and a width of <SP>1</SP>/ 64 of an inch. The strip may be cut from a broad strip of an elastomeric material.
