Abstract

1459955 Coating tubular plastics film IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 Aug 1975 [16 Sept 1974] 35704/75 Heading D1L Tubular plastics film is coated (particularly polyethylene terephthalate with vinylidene chloride polymer) in flattened condition 1 by applying the coating material in lines 9 from nozzles 5 trailing onto the upper and lower surfaces of the film, the lines of coating material then being spread by passage over two or more contra-rotating rollers 10, 11 [(26)-(28) in Fig. 2 (not shown) ]. The coating material is passed to the nozzles by a peristaltic pump 8. The coated film may be dried in an oven (29) and cooled on chill rolls (30), (31). The first roll rotates slower than subsequent rolls.
