Abstract

1459181 Cleaning floors; &c. WARWICK PUMP & ENG CO Ltd 13 March 1974 [15 Dec 1972] 57946/72 Heading A4F Apparatus for cleaning a floor or other surface comprises at least one nozzle 9 for directing a jet of fluid, e.g. water under pressure on to the surface, and means, such as a conduit 12, for collecting fluid deflected from the surface arranged so that fluid passing into the collecting means induces an air-flow in the same general direction as the fluid. In the illustrated embodiment, a plurality of nozzles 9 discharging fan-shaped jets are mounted on a tube 8 connected to a water supply pump by a hose 10. A lower portion 14 of the conduit 12 which may engage the flow is of rubber, plastics, or like flexible material. A suction pump (not shown) is connected to the conduit 12 via conduits 13, 15. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 3, (not shown), the collected fluid passes via a screen (20) to a sump (17) formed in part by a wall of the conduit 12. In an alternative embodiment, the nozzles 9 may be angled and a collecting chamber 23 having a suction opening at one end provided.
