Abstract

1458046 Scrubbing carpets SPECIAL EQUIPMENT Ltd 24 Dec 1974 [2 Oct 1973]. 45950/73 Heading D1L Carpets are scrubbed by contacting the carpet 36 with a rotary brush 21 whilst being sprayed from 22 with a detergent, the carpet being fed by means of a pair of nip rollers 14, 15 (the former having a rough surface or being provided with pins to controllably hold the carpet), and wherein the brush 21 and the roller 15 are plvotally mounted on bellcrank (18) [Fig. 2 (not shown)] so that the height of the roller 15, which slides in a vertical slot (16), (determined by the thickness of the carpet) controls the size of the nip between brush 21 and roller 14. The support (19) for the roller 15 is adjustable to compensate for brush wear. The scrubbed carpet is then conveyed on walking beam 10 under rinsing sprays 13 and squeezed between rollers 27 and 28.
