Abstract
1455371 Air curtains in vestibules DISCO ENG Inc 7 Feb 1974 05728/74 Heading F4V A vestibule inside or, as shown, outside a restaurant or store comprises an air heating or cooling unit 32 for delivering air to at least one discharge duet having a longitudinally extending slot to form an air curtain across an external access opening 22, a folding door 24 in opening 22 and hinged or slidable doors 28 in an interior access opening, doors 28 including louvres for passage of air from the vestibule to the interior of the building irrespective of the position of doors 28 to pressurise the building to prevent ingress of dust or climatic influences. The door 24 is actuated by an electric motor via gears and a screw (24d, Fig. 3A). A slotted air curtain forming duct is located on one or each side of or above the opening 22, and forms part of an air discharging unit fixed to the underside of the unit 32. Alternatively, the unit 32 communicates with hollow door frame members having air outlet slots. Unit 32 includes refrigerating means or a gas or oil fired heater or hot water or steam coils. The air discharging unit includes baffles (78, 80, 82, 84, Figs. 4, 6) for directing air to the slotted duct(s).
