Abstract

1432791 Doors E BERNER 5 April 1973 [7 April 1972 14 March 1973] 16333/73 Heading E1J [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for creating an air curtain across an opening comprises a door closure in the form of a number of telescopically interconnected sections; each section including spaced apart panels e.g. 16, 17, 28, 29 forming a passageway 19 which communicates at one end with an outlet 23 from a blower 21. The section remote from the blower has an air outlet to distribute air from the blower across the opening. The outlet may be in the form of spaced apart panels, an angled baffle plate (Fig. 6) or a sector-shaped plate 62 (Fig. 2) having apertures 64 therethrough. Louvres 92 may be disposed on the interior side of the closure to ventilate the building. A drum 40 and rope 42 may be utilised to raise or lower the closure to an open position (Fig. 6) or a fully closed position (Fig. 2). Tapered end channels 18 are provided for preventing the escape of air from the side portions of the sections. Stops 56 support the sections. Each section may run against the next section on wheels, or a rubber seat may be present. Thermal insulation -may also be provided adjacent the inner panel. In another embodiment (Fig. 15, not shown), the pairs of panels may be replaced by a series of inverted U-shaped sections, each section having a tubular duct for the air extending vertically downwardly therefrom. Each duct slidingly engages the adjacent tubular duct.
