Abstract

1455228 Screw-and-nut gearing AGENCE NATIONALE DE VALORISATION DE LA RECHERCHE 24 Feb 1975 [26 Feb 1974] 7684/75 Heading F2Q A ball nut comprises an internally threaded sleeve member 2 incorporating a longitudinally extending ball return passage 4 and two identical annular end plates 5a, 5b, each end plate having a portion of its bore 7 increased in diameter to form a recess 12 which communicates with the passage 4 by means of a tangential groove 13. The recess 12 has a radial depth e greater than the radius of balls 3 and an axial width p greater than the diameter of the balls. A projection 15 guides the balls into the groove 13. Preferably the end plates are made of plastics material such as polyamide or polytetrafluoroethylene.
