Abstract

1455292 Transfer printing apparatus L B HOLLIDAY & CO Ltd 6 Feb 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 6554/73 Heading B6C [Also in Division D1] Figs. 1 and 2 represent apparatus used in transfer printing of textiles. Fig. 1 comprises a wetting stage (I) and treatment stage (II). Stage (I) comprises a vat 1 containing treatment solution 2 and idler rollers 3. Material 4 is driven by drive rollers 5 to give a loop 6 in the solution 2. Stage (II) comprises a U-shaped vessel 7 containing a bath 8 of molten metal and heating tank 9 for the metal. Squeeze rollers 10 and drive rollers 11 propel the material down a slight incline over idler 12 into contact with printing web 13 driven by rollers 14 over idler 15 to drive rollers 16. Paper 17 and 18 driven by rollers 19 and 21 respectively form the sandwich which passes through the U tube to a first stripper 23 and further strippers 24 and 25 which separate the papers, material and printing web. The printed material is rolled onto roller 26 and wrapping layers 17 and 18 are returned to squeeze rollers 22 for resuse, the printing web being discarded at 27. In Fig. 2, a blanket 41 runs over rollers 42 and co-operates with a heated roller 44 between which the sandwich of webs 4 and 13 and wrappers 17 and 18 travels.
