Abstract

1506831 Applying release agent to paper webs BILLERUDS AB 6 April 1976 [28 April 1975] 13884/76 Heading D11. Paper webs are coated with small quantities of release agent e.g. 4-12 ml/m<SP>2</SP> by contacting the web 1 with a roller 5 located in the opening of a vacuum chamber 2 so that the web is brought into roller contact by air pressure. The coating may be applied from beneath [Fig. 2]. from above [Fig. 4] or from the side [Figs. 3, 5]. The roller is supplied with coating liq. from a pool 6 or from a supply conduit 14. Excess coating is removed by doctor blade 10. The roller may be lightweight or hollow so as to float on the coating liq.. In a modiscation the coating may be applied firstly to an endless belt. the belt then being brought into contact with the web.
