Abstract

1452769 Dispensing device M P GOURNELLE 31 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 50634/73 Heading B8N A dispensing device for viscous liquid, e.g. liquid soap, detergent or toilet products, comprises a body 13 fixable or fixed to a supply tank 1, a cylinder 16 reciprocably mounted in the body and a fixed piston 35 to define a metering chamber 23 with the cylinder from which dispensing is controlled by a valve 25. The valve comprises a split diaphragm which opens automatically when the cylinder is raised to pressurize the liquid in the metering chamber 23. The chamber has a dispensing nozzle 27 to dispense liquid when the cylinder is raised by the palm of a hand. The chamber is refilled as the cylinder is moved downwards under spring-bias 32 after dispensing. Liquid is sucked past a second valve-type diaphragm 33 via grooves 37 on the side of the fixed piston. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the position of the piston is adjustable to change the size of the metering chamber. The piston has a helical land (48) with notches (49) selectively engaged by a projection (50). The piston is rotated to adjust its axial position by a screw driver engaged with slot (51). The device can be fixed to the tank by bolts or screwed on to a boss (54), Fig. 4 (not shown).
