Abstract

1451899 Electrical pressure transducer SIMMS GROUP RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 5 Dec 1973 [12 Jan 1973] 1648/73 Heading G1N A pressure transducer provides an electrical signal representative of the pressure in a conduit communicating with a Bourdon tube 18 anchored at one end in a member 19, the other end moving in response to pressure changes to produce rotary displacement of a rotor member 17 of magnetizable material by means of link 21 and extension 22. The member is positioned adjacent an end-face of a cylindrical pole 11 of a magnetic core 10, is pivotally mounted about the axis of a bore 12 of the pole and has a width at its extremities equal to the arcuate length of arcuate polepieces 14. These polepieces 14 are equiangularly spaced about the axis. An energizing winding 15 surrounds the pole and output windings 16 are provided about the polepieces 14 to provide a signal which represents the angular setting of the rotor relative to the pole axis. The output windings are inter-connected so that in use the voltages induced in an opposed pair of windings are added and are subtracted from the sum of the voltages induced in the other opposed pair of windings. As a result the output voltage will be at a minimum when the member 17 lies midway between a pair of adjacent polepieces 14.
