Abstract

1450551 Lighters RONSON CORP 22 Nov 1973 [28 Nov 1972] 54341/73 Heading F4F [Also in Division H2] A gas lighter with a burner valve 13 and a piezoelectric ignition unit 16-19 comprises a finger-operated lever 24 on which a coiled spring 28 with extending limbs 29, 30 is rotatably mounted some distance from the pivot point of the lever such that rotation of the lever causes the limb 29 to pivot about a fixed pin 34 to actuate the valve and the other limb 30 to depress the hammer 16 of the piezoelectric unit against a spring bias until the limb is displaced by a surface 35 to release the hammer and produce a spark at the electrode 19. A slidable cover 22 for a flame-outlet orifice 21 is also fixed to the lever. The natural resilience of the coiled spring acts to return the lever to its rest position.
