Abstract

1449612 Hot water supply; central heating G APPLEGATE 5 Nov 1973 [19 Oct 1972] 48175/72 Headings F4A and F4U A hot fluid supply system comprises a first circuit 1 with a pump 2 for circulating fluid therein, and a plurality of secondary circuits 4, each having a pump 5 and a heater 6, and fluid mixing means at the connection of each secondary loop to the primary loop, each pump 5 in operation causing fluid from the primary loop to flow through the associated heater 6 and return to the primary loop. Each secondary circuit 4 is connected by pipe couplings 13, 14 to annular chamber 11 of a header 3, the fluid in the first circuit flowing in through a pipe 9 in the chamber, which has upstream apertures communicating with the chamber, and out through a pipe 10 surrounding the pipe 9. Alternatively all the secondary circuits may be connected to a single header, Fig. 3 (not shown). The secondary circuits may be connected in various combinations of series and parallel, Figs. 5a-d (not shown), and a line (59) from the pump 2 may by-pass the secondary circuits and rejoin the circuit 1 at a three-way valve (58), Fig. 6 (not shown). The pump and a gas valve of the heater of each secondary circuit are connected in parallel and the voltage applied in the case of one circuit is controlled in dependence on sensed outside temperatures, while the other circuits are either on or off, so that the number of secondary circuits in operation is determined by the sensed temperature. A control circuit is described, Fig. 4 (not shown). The first circuit 1 may supply control heating radiators, and a further circuit branching off the secondary circuits may serve for indirect heating of a water supply, Fig. 7 (not shown).
