Abstract

1386387 Central heating systems; water heaters G PORGES 5 July 1973 32001/73 Headings F4U and F4A A heating system for central heating or domestic hot water includes a circulating pump 3 which pressurizes the system whereby at least part of the radiator system 4, or of a water drawoff system, Fig. 2 (not shown), may be located above the level of an open feed tank 1. A pressure-reducing device 5 is provided in the return line to the boiler 2. The boiler 2 may be replaced by a cooler. The feed tank, heater exchanger, pump and pressure-reducing valve may be assembled as a single unit in a easing. The feed tank may have sufficient capacity between the ball-valve shut-off level and the overflow pipe to hold all the liquid which, during normal operation, is above the ball-valve level. Alternatively, solenoid valves may be provided downstream of the pump and upstream of a high point of the system, the valves being electrically connected so that they shut when the pump stops.
