Abstract

1449250 Making magnets ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 15 Nov 1973 [16 Nov 1972] 53012/73 Heading B3A [Also in Division H2] A field magnet 10 for a D.C. machine is constructed by rough pressing and partially sintering a suitable metal to form two shaped polepieces 12, 13 for partially surrounding an armature (18, Fig. 2, not shown), and then inserting the magnetic pole ends of a permanent magnet 11 into cavities 21, 22 in the polepieces and rigidly fixing the ends therein by sintering, the sintering causing shrinkage of the polepieces on to the magnet. The magnet 11 is preferably of Ainico, and in the motor arrangement described has grooves 23 in one face, the polepieces 12, 13 being subjected to pressing to cause the metal to be pushed into the grooves of the magnet to engage therewith (as in Fig. 2). A further motor (Fig. 3, not shown) includes two permanent magnets.
