Abstract
1447129 Spray printing DEERING MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORP 12 Dec 1974 [17 May 1974 3 Jan 1974] 53798/74 Heading B6C A printing machine has a dye applicator 78 (Fig. 3) having a plurality of orifices 43 for dye, each orifice having an associated gas nozzle 44, the supply of gas being valve controlled. When the gas is not flowing, dye impinges on the material 11. When gas is flowing, the dye stream is directed into collector 50 for recirculation. The entrance of collector 50 has a wall portion 76 which diverges away from the deflected dye stream direction to assist in separation of gas and air. An adjustable plate 80 may also be provided. This may be moved bodily by cam surfaces towards and away from the opening (Figs. 5-7, not shown), and also adjusted at intermediate parts of its length. This plate 80 preferably has a sharp edge 81. In the embodiment of Fig. 10, a partition 230 is provided, with an aperture near the bottom co-operating with shell 221 around an auger 190 returning the dye for recirculation, and the partition also has openings in its upper part to remove gas by suction from conduit 226.
