Abstract
1447011 Reciprocating pumps STERLING- WINTHROP GROUP Ltd 7 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 18004/74 Heading F1A A dispenser for pastes, creams or liquids, e.g. soap, comprises a piston pump 30, 31 in a storage container 7 detachably mounted on a mounting plate 1 for attachment to a vertical surface, e.g. a wall, the spring-loaded piston 30 being operated by a knob 34 to discharge the contents of an annular pumping chamber 40 to a nozzle 46 via passages 44, 45 and nipple valve 47. The quantity discharged is adjusted by removing and rotating the piston 30 so that a selected groove in the piston 30 is aligned with cylinder inlet port 43, the length of the groove determining the point in the discharge stroke at which port 43 is closed by the piston, a square shank 32 of the piston extending through a square aperture in the container to prevent rotation during operation, and numerals on the shank faces indicating the piston setting. A stop 49 limits the piston stroke by engaging a plug 37 which is removably screwed into container 7 for access to the piston. Container 7 may receive the liquid to be dispensed directly or a replaceable container 12 of the liquid, a stopper 26 being removed from the container rear wall in the latter case. A window 17 is provided in the container wall 18. The container lid 11 is secured by a lock 19, 20 a projection 23 engaging the mounting plate 1 to prevent unauthorised removal of the container.
