1445670 Flavouring tobacco INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS & FRAGRANCES INC 6 Dec 1974 [20 May 1974] 52846/74 Heading A2C The flavour of tobacco or tobacco substitute is altered by the addition of one or more 6- alkyl-alpha-pyrone compounds having the structure: where R 1 is methyl or hydrogen and R 2 is C 3 -C 5 alkyl. The concentration of 6-alkylalpha-pyrone in the tobacco product is from 100 to 5000 parts per million, based on the total weight of tobacco or tobacco substitute on a dry basis.
