Abstract

1444324 Window for a sloping roof VBK RASMUSSEN 3 May 1974 [15 May 1973 6 Sept 1973] 19646/74 Heading E1J A window for mounting in a non-horizontal position comprises a main frame 1, 2, 3 and a sash 4, 5, 6 with pivots 7 and links 9 hing- edly attached at or near the lower sash member 6 and at or near the mid-point of the side member of the main frame. The pivots 7 may be attached to the sash and slide in the tracks 8 in the side members 2 of the main frame or may be attached to the main frame and slide in tracks in the side members of the sash. The torsion bar 10 biases the arms 11 upwardly so that the shoes 12 sliding in the grooves 13 partially counter balance the weight of the sash during opening and when open; this may be replaced by a system of cords and weights or springs. The sash may be reversed for cleaning by releasing the pivot 7 from the track 8 through the exit slot 14 or by other means. When open the sash frame does not obscure the view or block the opening so that it may be used as an emergency exit.
