Abstract

1444088 Two-part coupling CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 27 Sept 1973 [3 Oct 1972] 45467/72 Heading H2E Plug (Fig. 2) and receptacle (Fig. 1) connector members to bring into contact based corresponding conductors on flat cables each comprise a frame with two parallel slots 4, 5 on the plug and wider spaced slots on the receptacle, through which tape cables may be looped, based side outwards, over two finger-like strips 1, 1 (not shown) or 8. 9. In the plug a retainer strip 3, forced between the fingers retains cable or cables 2; in the receptacle a second frame 62 with slots for the fingers is pulled back over them, and locked by latches 10 to retain the cable or cables. Hooked arms 6 on the plug enter loops 11, 12 on the receptacle rear frame when the plug is engaged with its fingers fitting within those of the receptacle. In each connector, the cable may be divided at its centre with separate connections to upper and lower half. A variant with spring backing to the tape on the plug fingers is described (Fig. 5, not shown). The hooked arms and loops may be reversed.
