Abstract

1442745 Burners with safety devices RADIATION Ltd 16 Nov 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 53240/72 Heading F4T A gas fuel burner assembly has a main burner 1 with a safety device having a first and a second heat responsive part, said first part being substantially non-responsive to heat emitted by the main burner, and said second part is substantially responsive to heat emitted by the burner 1 only in the "light-back" condition thereof. A valve supplying gas fuel to burner 1, and possibly also to pilot burner 8, is normally maintained open by an electromagnet 7 energized by a thermocouple 3 having a hot junction 4, forming said first part, sensing the pilot flame and a cold junction 5, forming said second part, located in the burner 1 to sense light-back. The fuel valve closes if the pilot flame goes out or if the main burner 1 lights back.
