1441940 Electromagnetic relays SIEMENS AG 19 Oct 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 48805/73 Heading H1N In an electromagnetic relay comprising an energizing coil and a contact assembly arranged outside the coil there is an insulating trough-shaped member arranged between the coil and the contact assembly. The relay described is a flat relay having an E-shaped core yoke with contact carrying springs 6 extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the coil 3, the insulating trough-shaped member 1 partly surrounding the coil and separating it from the contacts and their springs. The trough may have partial end walls 1c, 1d to engage around the coil, or in a further embodiment, Fig. 4, not shown, a partial wall and an apertured end wall, there being pockets adjacent the apertured end wall to contain and shield the soldering lugs. The end walls may be disposed at an angle of more than 90 degrees to the floor of the trough. There may also be a thin protecting flap, Fig. 7, not shown, which can be raised when assembling the core and yoke in the trough and which lowers under its own resilience to cover the end face of the yoke. The armature of the relay is mounted on a leaf spring. The trough is moulded from a plastic such as a polycarbonate.
