Abstract
1441364 Iodophor DIVERSEY Ltd 22 Oct 1974 [19 Feb 1974] 7484/74 Heading A5E An iodophor comprises an iodine-nonionic surfactant complex, the surfactant component comprising a biodegradable alkoxylated wool grease or related substance (as defined) on to which composition said alkoxylated wool grease or related substance has been added. The related substances specified include wool grease fatty acids, anhydrous lanolin and its derivatives such as lanolin alcohols, lanolin fatty acids, liquid fractions of lanolin, acetylated lanolin, lanolin fatty acid esters and hydrogenated lanolin or any chlorinated water insoluble wool grease or related substance as above. Preferably there are present in the alkoxylated wool grease up to and including 8 mols of propylene oxide and between 5 and 15 mols of ethylene oxide, the total molecular weight of EtO-PrO being no greater than 900 and the molar ratio EtO/PrO being equal to or greater than 1. The weight ratio of total surfactants to iodine may be 1:1 to 100:1. In use the diluted iodophor contains an amount of iodine from 1000 to 6000 ppm.
