Abstract
1339853 Polyamides AQUITAINE TOTAL ORGANICO 7 July 1971 [9 July 1970] 31935/71 Heading C3R [Also in Division C2] A polyamide has repeating unit one or more of the -(CH 2 ) n - C-atoms being optionally substituted, e.g. with alkyl or aryl groups; n#20, e.g. 20-25. Ar may contain a naphthalene nucleus or one or more optionally substituted benzene rings, joined directly or by -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO 2 -, -CO-, -CH 2 -, -CH 2 -C(CH 3 ) 2 -, -CH 2 CH 2 -, -CH(CH 3 )-, -C(CH 3 ) 2 -, or The polyamide may be made by reaction of a diamine with a dicarboxylic acid or derivative thereof, e.g. the acid chloride or ester. The amine/acid salt may first be formed, and then polymerized in melt or solution; or the starting diacids and diamines or their derivatives may be polymerized in the melt, interfacially, or in solution or emulsion.
