Abstract

1339693 Vibrators CARL SCHENK MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 21 Jan 1972 [3 May 1971] 3104/72 Heading F2X [Also in Divisions B1-B2 and B8] A two-mass vibrator system operable at supracritical frequency has a counter-vibratory mass 5 resiliently supported by springs 7, 8 from foundations 9, 10 and a vibratory useful mass resiliently supported by springs 3, 4 from the counter-vibratory mass 5, the mass 5 and the foundations 9, 10 being additionally coupled by vibration-damping elements 11,12 and 13, 14 which serve to prevent high amplitudes of the useful mass developing as the system runs into resonance during shut down. In the embodiment illustrated, the useful mass is a vibratory screen consisting of a screen box 1 and a screen plate 2, and is driven by a vibrator 6 comprising two counter-rotary out-of-balance weights. Other applications include vibratory conveyers or feeders. The vibration-damping elements may alternatively be arranged in pairs at that end of the mass 5 at which the vibrator 6 is situated, and singly at the opposite end (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). These elements are conveniently at an angle to the foundation plane other than 90 degrees so as to attenuate resonant vibrations in both the vertical and horizontal directions.
