Abstract
1339592 Indazolone derivatives AGFAGEVAERT AG 14 July 1971 [18 July 1970] 33034/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Indazolone derivatives have the general formula wherein R 1 is hydrogen or (C 1 -C 18 ) alkyl; R 2 is (C 1 -C 20 ) alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl; and X is hydrogen, halogen, or a (C 1 -C 20 ) alkyl or alkoxy radical. R 1 may also be an aryl-substituted alkyl radical. The acylamino substituent is preferably in the 4-position. The compounds are prepared via the corresponding indazolone carboxylic acid chlorides which are protected by introducing acetyl groups which can easily be split off subsequently. Reaction of the acid chlorides with suitable primary or secondary amines yields the desired compounds which are useful as magenta-forming couplers in lightsensitive photographic materials.
