Abstract

1,049,938. Percussive drills. H. WACKER and P. WACKER. March 4, 1964 [March 15, 1963], No. 9076/64. Heading B4C. A motor-driven percussive drill comprises a twist mechanism having a toothed disc 5 fixed to a reciprocable sleeve 3 so as to be raised and lowered into and out of contact with a toothed disc 8 carried by a rotatable tool guide sleeve 9. The sleeve 3 is slidable in the tool housing 1 and provided with an oblique slot 4, a pin 6 secured in a percussion piston 2 passing through the slot and into engagement with a guide 7 formed in the housing. In operation, upon each upward movement of the piston, and, due to the pin-and-slot device, the sleeve is raised and partially rotated thereby, via the toothed discs 5, 8 causing the drill guide sleeve 9 also to be rotated. When the piston moves downwardly, although the sleeve is again rotated in the opposite direction, the disc 5 is disengaged from the disc 8 and thus prevents any rotation of the drill guide sleeve.
