Abstract

1336820 Gas filter STANDARD FILTERBAU-GES mbH 15 March 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 12016/72 Heading BIT [Also in Division F4] A cooler for dust-laden gases comprises a pair of heat exchangers 3, 4 interconnected at their upper ends by means of a channel 14 and each containing a bank of open-ended horizontal cooling aid ducts 5 each longitudinally divided by partitions 6 into upper and lower passages. Separate fans 18 are associated with the upper and lower passages respectively such that air in the upper cooling passages flows in counter-current to cooling air in the lower passages. Interposed between the heat exchangers are two chambers 8, 9 separated by a partition 7. Dust collecting chambers 12 and 13 located below the heat exchangers are each provided with a gate 15 to ensure uniform flow of gases from chamber 8 into the heat exchanger 3 and from heat exchanger 4 into the chamber 9 and to induce precipitation of dust from the dust-laden gases on louvre-like baffles 16 so that it can be discharged by screw conveyors 17. The hot dustladen gases enter chamber 8 through an inlet connection 10 and after having passed through the heat exchangers 3, 4 leave chamber 9 through an outlet connection 11 in a cooled substantially dust-free state.
