Abstract
1336069 Rolling mills IDDON BROS Ltd 19 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 10336/71 Heading B3M [Also in Division B5] A rolling mill, or a calender for processing plastics materials or rubber, is provided with a fixed roll 4 and an adjustable roll 5, the gap between the rolls being controlled by doubleacting hydraulic piston-cylinder units 8 attached to the chocks 7 of the adjustable roll. Each unit 8, Fig. 2, includes a movable cylinder attached to a chock and a piston 9 bolted to a mill housing 1. Fluid is supplied through lines 17 or 18 to either side of the piston to adjust the roll, the fluid flow to the lines being controlled by two valves 16. The lines 17 and 18 are cross connected by lines 19 and 25 and are fed by a motor driven pump 13. Various check valves 20 gauges 21 and resistance valves 22 are provided in the lines.
