Abstract

1334420 Railway vehicle undercarriages DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 17 Aug 1971 [31 Aug 1970] 38520/71 Heading B7L A body bolster centre plate 12 is an integral member formed of a generally rectangular, flat base portion 27 having a circular central boss 30 and a plurality of beam members 31 and 32 extending from one face therefo, two opposite edges of the base portion 27 defining parallel mounting flanges 28 and 29 between which the beam members 31 and 32 extend, passing on both sides of the central boss 30 which is adapted for engagement with a mating centre plate bowl portion of a supporting truck. The beam members 31 and 32 may curve around the boss 30 in spaced relation thereto, with their ends each disposed between a pair of mounting holes in a flange 28 or 29, and the members 31 and 32 may also taper from a maximum depth intermediate their ends to a lesser depth at their ends. The other face of the base portion 27 may have a recess 33 between the flanges 28 and 29. The centre plate 12 may be combined with an elongated centre sill 10 of inverted U-shaped cross-section having flanges 16 and 17 extending outwardly from its lower edges, and a transverse body-supporting bolster 11 rigidly secured to the sill 10, with the base portion 27 spanning the centre sill 11 so that the mounting flanges 28 and 29 engage with the flanges 16 and 17.
