Abstract

1,220,357. Rail vehicle bogies. GENERAL STEEL INDUSTRIES Inc. 7 June, 1968, No. 27151/68. Heading B7L. A railway vehicle bogie comprises a pair of wheeled axles 1, 1 supporting a pair of side frames 7, said frames each being formed with an aperture through which extends one end of a transom 21 supported from flanges 17 forming extensions of the top surface of the said apertures, there extending through aligned holes in both the flanges 17 and the transom 21, bolts 29 which pass also through resilient pads 33 preventing direct contact of the frames with the transom. A bolster 41 formed with a vertical pin 43 pivots about a hole in the centre of the transom and contacts the side frames by means of resilient pads 49. The vehicle body U is supported on the bolster by way of pneumatic springs 51 and the body is further located by means of links extending between depending branches 53, 55 of the bolster and body respectively. Each link comprises a central rod 61 passing through apertures in the brackets and having enlarged diameter ends 63 on which are threaded nuts 77. A spacer 65 with flanges 67, and sleeves 71 with flanges 69 surround the rod 61 and resilient pads 73 prevent direct contact of the flanges and the brackets.
