Abstract
1334202 Coating compositions W J RUSCOE CO 20 March 1972 12874/72 Headings C3P and C3Q Coating compositions comprise (a) a major proportion by weight of an organic solventbased elastomer cement, (b) a minor proportion by weight of a water-based elastomer latex, and (c) a minor proportion by weight of a filler material comprising particulate rubber, sawdust, wood or sand, the weight of filler (c) bring greater than the weight of latex (b). Neoprene is the preferred elastomer in both (a) and (b), but other natural or synthetic elastomers may be used. Toluene is the exemplified solvent. The filler is preferably scrap rubber, e.g. from tyres, boots or shoes, though sawdust is used in one Example. Exemplified compositions also contain magnesia, zinc oxide, titania, tertiary butyl phenolic resin, antioxidant and wetting agent.
