Abstract

1329970 Baling presses G C RAWLINGS 15 Dec 1970 [16 Dec 1969] 61348/69 Heading B5F The lower platen 6 of a two-platen baling press is tiltable about a horizontal axis mounted in the press frame structure to facilitate removal of compressed bales from an open side of the press. The lower platen 6 may be tiltable about its front or rear edge but, as shown, is tiltable about a central axis by means of an hydraulic ram 8 controlled by a manually operable pump 10. As shown the upper platen 15 is movable by means of hydraulic rams 16 and has rollers 13 guided in channel section uprights 12 of the press frame. Alternatively the lower platen may be movable vertically in addition to or instead of the upper platen.
