1328020 Frying apparatus D C A INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 June 1972 [8 July 1971] 32092/71 Heading A4D An apparatus for frying comestibles such as doughnuts, comprises a frying kettle 1 rotatable about a vertical axis and having an inner kettle 9 which forms a reservoir for cooking oil and which with the kettle 1 forms an annular frying space 12, means for turning the comestibles in the frying space 12, a heater 27 and a container 3 having an ejector device 4 for delivering comestible to the space 12 at intervals related to the speed of rotation of the pan 1. The means for turning the comestibles comprise plates 21, for carrying the comestibles, mounted on spokes of a grid 19, each plate 21 having an extension 36 which co-operates with a first fixed rod 23. A twisted pipe (13) Fig. 2 (not shown) is pivotally mounted for communication between the inner kettle 9 and frying space 12 and has an arm (17) which co-operates with projections 18 attached to the kettle 9 so that liquid trapped in a bend in the pipe (13) is transferred to the space 12 whose liquid level is kept constant by holes 19. Near the end of one revolution each plate 21 is pivoted by a second fixed rod 23 to turn the comestible on to a take-off grid 24 which is tilted to eject the comestible, by means of an arm 25 co-operating with an abutment 26. The ejector device 4 is driven by a motor 6 which rotates the kettle 1 and in a modification Fig. 3 (not shown) there is also provided a solenoid (41) connected to a microswitch 40 operated by a cam (39) rotatable with the shaft 2. The heater 24 has a thermostat and is pivotable to allow removal of the frying kettle 1.
