Abstract
1327741 Feeding or delivering sheets BORDEN Inc 1 Jan 1971 [30 June 1970] 46/71 Heading B8R Articles such as can covers 20, Figs. 3 and 4, are separated in succession from the bottom of a pile supported between guide members 62 by three rotating cams 26, 26<SP>1</SP> having grooves 32 engaging the edge of the article, and rotating with each cam is a knife 30 which supports the remainder of the pile during separation of the lowest article. Each cam is supported on a housing 52 or 521 pivoted on a drive shaft 36, and is rotated by the drive shaft through an intermediate gear 48 or two such gears 44, 46, so that one cam rotates in the opposite direction and is grooved accordingly. A mounting member 14 can be rotated a small amount in a housing 12 by means of a member 16 extending through a slot 18, whereupon the housings 52, 52<SP>1</SP> are pivoted by means of rods 60 to accommodate articles of various sizes. The rods are individually adjustable in length so as to accommodate articles which are not circular. In another form, Fig. 7, for feeding articles into the stack the cam grooves are reversed, and the articles 76 are brought horizontally into engagement with the cams by a conveyer belt 70, while each cam has a flared lower end 72 to support the articles.
