Abstract

1327367 Traverse means HEBERLEIN & CO AG 15 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 58283/71 Heading D1J A plurality of yarn packages 14 rest on and are frictionally driven by a common shaft 2 extending over the length of the machine. A traverse rod 3, common to all the packages, is moved back and forth by a constant distance corresponding to the basic stroke required. The rod 3 carries a plurality of thread guides 5, one for each package. Each package has associated therewith an individual guide rail 7 pivotally mounted at 16. The thread guide 5 is a cranked arm pivotally carried by rod 3, one arm of the crank acting as a thread guide and the other arm of the crank being coupled to a pivot 15 slidable in a guide rail 7. The guide rails 7 are jointly rocked about their pivots 16 by a common control shaft 11 operating a plurality of rack and pinion units 9, 10. Each guide rail 7 is pivotally connected by a link 8 to one of said rack and pinion units 9, 10. Operation. At the beginning of the winding procedure, the guide rail 7 assumes an angular position causing the thread guide 5 to move at maximum stroke. The control shaft 11 is then rotated slowly to cause all the rack and pinion units 9, 10 to simultaneously cause a pivotal movement of the guide rails 7. In this manner the stroke of each thread guide 5 is successively shortened and bobbins 14 with conical end portions are produced.
