Abstract

1327358 Selective printing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 12 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 27303/72 Heading B6F In a printer having print hammers 16 striking a document 14 against type fingers and provided with a platen 40 to support the type fingers, the platen is displaceable out of alignment with the type characters on the type fingers to permit a line of type to be viewed. The type fingers are formed on an endless type band 24 driven round wheels as at 34. The platen 40 forms part of a T-shaped structure 12 pivoted at 44 and displaceable by a pull rod 56 actuated by a solenoid. The apparatus is applied to a keyboard operated machine wherein control circuitry acts to lower the platen whenever a delay of 1À2 seconds is detected between key operations.
