Abstract

1,118,173. Typewriters &c. ANELEX CORP. 25 Oct., 1965 [18 Jan., 1965], No. 45126/65. Heading B6F. The columns of character print fonts 12 on a type carrier, shown as a continuously rotating cylinder 10, are arranged with at least one letter-space 14 between each column of characters. This prevents " ghost " impressions and allows more room for each hammer mechanism. To complete a line of printing two or more complete revolutions of the cylinder are required according to the number of letter-spaces between columns 12. The paper web 16 is moved transversely at each complete revolution to effect printing in all the spaces. As shown in Fig. 2 paper-feed tractors 44, axially adjustable on splined shaft 48, are bodily moved in letterspace steps, in sliding bearings 58, by a magnetically operated lever 86.
