1326634 Coin-freed apparatus; drop-shelf delivery ANDREAE & MAYER GmbH 10 Sept 1970 43354/70 Heading G4V The pivoted shelves 10, Fig. 2, of a coinfreed vending machine are released one at a time to dump articles thereon into discharge passageways 36, 37 by the co-operation of arms 15 on a slide 14 with pivoted shelf-supporting brackets 12, the arrangement being such that for each coin acceptance, slide 14 is slid upwardly on wall 19 to engage the next higher step 18 of a fixed stepped member 16, an arm 15 during the motion tripping forwardly a bracket 12 to release the associated shelf 10. Slide 14 is moved upwardly by a further stepped member 17, Fig. 7, raised when a roller 40 attached thereto is engaged by surfaces 23a, 23b of a wedge 23 on movement of the latter in direction 28. Slide 14 engages stepped member 17 by means of a resiliently mounted locking member 22, Fig. 4. On retraction of wedge 23 stepped member 17 is lowered, but slide 14 only descends until a further locking member 22 engages the adjacent step 18 of fixed stepped member 16. At the top of its travel, the slide is visible through a window (39), Fig. 1 (not shown). The slide 14 is lowered by depression of a lever 66, Fig. 4, thereon which laterally retracts arms 15 and rotates locking members 22 out of engagement with stepped members 16, 17, see also Figs. 5, 6 (not reproduced). The shelves are set up manually. In other embodiments a single column of shelves only may be utilized or more than one double column arrangement within a single housing. Coin action.-Coins accepted by a conventional coin tester (4), Fig. 3 (not shown), are passed via shoot (32a) to a slot 23c, Fig. 8, associated with wedge 23. Reciprocation of the wedge by means of operating handle (31), Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown), to raise and lower stepped member 17 can only occur when a coin in slot 23c, Fig. 8, is moved with the wedge to urge upwardly a bolt 41 which normally blocks the path of the wedge.
