1326545 Electrically controlled fastenings ADAMS RITE MFG CO 11 Aug 1970 38698/ 70 Heading E2A An electrically released locking mechanism comprises a casing 11 including a striking plate 14 each having an opening therein, a pivoting striking member 12 spring urged to project through the openings, and pivoting looking member 37 for the striking member, electric means, a solenoid plunger, to release the locking member and movably coupled thereto. The locking member 37 supports a roller 45 which abuts one arm of the striking member 12 to prevent its retraction by pressure on a door. The locking member 37 is connected to the solenoid plunger 49 by a pin 50 engaging in a recess in the locking member. The solenoid-coil 52 is mounted externally of the casing with the plunger extending through a hole in the casing and spring urged to retain the locking member in locking position. Energising the solenoid rotates the locking member to releasing position and allows the striking member to pivot to releasing position. The striking plate is secured to a face plate 15 secured to arms 20, 22 on the casing. The striking plate has a recessed portion 24' at one side of the opening therein and the striking member has a projection 36 which closes the gap between the striking member and edge 35 of the striking plate to prevent insertion of a tool for unauthorised movement of the striking member to releasing position.
