Abstract

1,205,691. Panic bolts. R. DUNCAN. 12 May, 1969 [1 March, 1968], No. 10087/68. Heading E2A. A panic bolt comprises a single bolt 10 movable in guides 11, 12 on a door and having a hook catch at one end with a finger 15a engageable with a keeper 18 and a bracket 17 on the door lintel, the other end of the bolt being engageable with a socket 26 in the floor. The bolt passes through a casing 20 on the door. An operating lever 21 is pivoted to the casing and has a bifurcated arm engaging a pin 24 on the 'bolt. Arm 22 of the lever supports a pressure bar, depressing which, releases the bolt to open the door, and a spring 14 in the guide 11 moves the bolt so that an abutment 19 of the catch engages the guide and maintains the bolt in disengaging position during opening and closing of the door.
