1326388 Equipment for carrying weapons on the person A S WOJCINSKI 17 Aug 1970 [16 Aug 1969 20 May 1970] 39480/70 Heading A3V Apparatus for suspending a long barrelled firearm diagonally across the front of its user's torso, comprises a body strap 1, to which are fixed two spaced apart shackles 4 and 5, and two straight limbed hooks 6 and 7 which are attached to the fiearm and are engaged one in each shackle. The hooks are mounted on the firearm parallel to the axis of the barrel and comprise an elongated portion terminating with a ball. The elongated portion of hook 7 is longer than that of hook 6 so that when the latter is pulled free from shackle 4, hook 7 will still be engaged in shackle 5. Securing elements in the form of blocks of resilient material such as rubber may be used which have recesses cut out which correspond in shape to the ball ends of the hooks and by means of the resilience of the material the hooks can be fastened into said recesses so as to be prevented from slipping free from the shackles by accident. In one embodiment the upper hook 6 may be attached to the firearm by means of a horseshoe shaped construction which is designed to enclose and adhere firmly to the hand guard of the weapon, said construction having a recess in which a U-shaped fixing portion of the hook 6 is secured. In a second embodiment the hook 6 comprises a fixing portion with a through hole which is threaded by a shaft incorporated in the firearm so that the hook may be rotated from a position where it is sufficiently spaced from the firearm to engage in the shackle to a position where it is contained in a recess therein. In an alternative arrangement the shackles may be attached to the weapon and the hooks to the body strap.
