Abstract

1325205 Selective printing MEAD CORP 15 Oct 1970 [17 Nov 1969] 49138/70 Heading B6F An ink drop printer includes an ink catcher 30, Fig. 2, comprising a chamber 40, Fig. 4, formed with a slot 41 receiving a blade 42 with clearance. The clearance between the blade 42 and the edges of the slot may accommodate foraminous material 43. A layer of hydrophilic material such as cotton fabric may be interposed between the lower surface of the blade and the foraminous material, the hydrophilic material extending outwardly of the chamber and underlying the bottom of the chamber (Fig. 7, not shown). The printer comprises a reservoir 12 supplying ink drops to paper 32 through charging rings 16 whereby unwanted drops are attracted towards the catcher by an electrostatic charge applied by the rings 16.
