Abstract

1325245 Tenter clip ERWIN KAMP MASCHINENFABRIK 29 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970] 55292/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division D1] A tenter clip engates, and may move along, a guide rail 1 which has surfaces 2 and 3 normal to the plane of film 4 which is to be biaxially stretched. The clip has arms 10, 11, united by a bridging member 9, a clamping surface 13 on lug 12 attached to the bridging member and clamping lever 16 for holding film 4 on the surface 13. Rollers 22 with axes in approximately the plane of film 4 are mounted on bridging member 9 and engage surfaces 6 and 7 of a recess in the guide rail, only one surface being engaged by a roller at any one time. Drive roller 21, vertically below the surface 13, is the means by which the clip is moved along the guide rail. An auxiliary drive member 33 is also provided. Arms 10 and 11 carry rollers 23, 24, 25 and 26 which engage surfaces 2 and 3 of the guide rail. In order to counteract forces tending to twist the clip on the guide rail, the rollers on any one arm are displaced from each other in the direction of travel of the clip.
