Abstract

1323760 Wall panel TRAMEX SA 24 Sept 1970 [25 Sept 1969] 45677/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division El] A panel for use in a partition construction comprises a rigid core formed, e.g. from a conglomerate of plaster reinforced with straw, which has at least one facing of compacted, polished plaster. The core may also be of reinforced expanded polystyrene. The panel has one or more grooves 5-7 along at least one peripheral face, and elongate cavities 8 extending into the core from the grooves, which may be of semic-circular or V-section. The plaster/ straw mixture is fed on to a conveyer 17, e.g. in a compressed form, transported to a die 20 which may further compress it, and when the grooves and cavities are formed, and thereafter the panel is cut to length, and faced, on a smooth-surfaced member 21. A second die treatment is then applied to achieve the correct thickness. The facings may have a "cut", "smooth" or "slured" finish. Finish papers may also be applied, the face or faces to be treated then being formed with a recess at each edge.
