Abstract
1322153 Morphinan carbonates YAMANOUCHI PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 15 March 1971 6842/71 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula (I): wherein R is alkyl or N-methyl-morphinan-3-yl group, and non-toxic acid addition salts thereof, may be obtained by reacting 3-hydroxy-N- methylmorphinan and a compound of the formula R<SP>1</SP>-CO-X, wherein X is halogen and R<SP>1</SP> denotes an alkoxy group or a halogen atom, and optionally treating the product with a pharmaceutically non-toxic inorganic or organic acid. The morphinan starting material may be the d, l or dl isomers. Pharmaceutical compositions having antitussive activity comprise compounds of Formula I and the usual excipients in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration.
