Abstract
1,244,481. Benzothiazine derivatives. JOHN WYETH & BRO. Ltd. 16 Oct., 1968 [8 Nov., 1967], No. 50838/67. Heading C2C. Novel benzothiazine derivatives of the formula in which R is H, halogen, C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, NO 2 or halo-C 1-6 alkyl, and R<SP>1</SP> is H, alkyl, aryl, substituted alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxycarbonyl or acyl and acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts of the basic compounds are prepared by reacting the appropriate 2 - (3,4- dihydro - 3 - oxo - 2H - benzo - thiazin - 2 - yl)- acetic acid or a functional derivatives thereof with the corresponding piperazine derivatives. Pharmaceutical compositions, having antidepressant and anticholinergic activity and/or anti-ulcer activity and suitable for oral or parenteral administration, contain the above novel compounds or salts thereof and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
