1321039 Selective printing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 15 May 1972 [25 June 1971] 22658/72 Heading B6F Hammer impression.-A hammer unit for a bond printer includes a plastics body 40 with a plurality of substantially U-shaped core members (30, Fig. 1) moulded therein; with the upper leg (30u) of each core member 30 slightly projecting therefrom and the lower leg (30l) projecting sufficiently to receive an operating winding 32, and project into the winding about two-thirds of the way. Each print hammer 20 is pivoted on a common shaft 26 which extends through openings in a plurality of ribs 34 of a non-magnetic support block 35. A lower hook portion of each hammer is positioned within the extending portion of its associated winding 32. The hammer head may be mounted on a flexible extension (22) which allows the head (23) to continue under momentum, after the hook portion of the hammer impacts a residual 29 of polyurethane at the end of the lower leg (301) of U-shaped core. A plurality of return springs (48) are mounted in bores 46 in the body 40 between the legs of the U-shaped cores, and act on plungers 50 which contact their associated hammers. Each hammer has a flight-adjustment screw 52 threaded into the support block 35.
